5 Women’s Body Types for Shaping Swimwear

Summertime is the right time to consider some new shaping swimwear. Even if you don’t have a bikini body, you can still find other options like a one-piece swimsuit that complements your body type.

Here are some of the main body types to know about for picking the right swimwear for beach season:

Small Bust

Did you know the global average breast size is European Size B? The good news is if you have a smaller chest, you actually have more swimsuit options than full-figured women.

Small-chested women tend to be slim or skinny, which gives nearly every swimsuit style a thumbs-up. That includes options like a bikini, tankini, or one-piece.

Large Bust

In this situation, it’s important to pick a swimsuit that will cause people to admire your big twins without staring. Options like skimpy bikinis or plunging necklines could cause you some uncomfortable situations at the beach, pool, or lake.

The key is to pick a swimsuit that amps up your body shape. Some good options include push-up padding and ruffles. Look for eye-catching swimsuit designs.

One of the main features to look for if you’re large-chested is enough support. One of the best options for D Cups and higher is a bra-style swimsuit with underwire. This is a better option versus other options like tube-top styles since they won’t provide enough coverage.

If you want to hide your large breasts, then consider a high-neck swimsuit cut at shoulder level. This will help you achieve that goal.

Pear-Shaped

A 2010 study showed that DNA might affect a woman’s body shape like pear or apple-shaped, according to the BBC. Pear-shaped is the most common shape among modern women.

It’s quite easy to use tips and tricks for hiding your pear-shaped body under everyday clothes. However, it’s tougher when picking swimsuits. This is due to swimwear exposing more body parts and being skin-tight.

If you go with a 2-piece swimsuit, then do some experimenting to create visual contrast. You can use colours, prints, and accents to add more volume to the torso. Then play down the hips with solid dark colours and plain bottoms.

There are also some no-no’s when picking swimsuits for pear-shaped bodies. Avoid boy-leg cut bottoms since they’ll widen hips and actually focus attention on the lower body. They’ll take the focus off the hip-width.

Go with a high-cut leg whether it’s a one-piece or two-piece swimsuit.

Tummy Trouble

This can include different issues like potbelly, belly bulge, and so on. Women in these situations are often hesitant to bare their midriff. If you’re not comfortable wearing a bikini, then a practical Plan B is a “tankini.” This is a 2-piece swimsuit that can use a high-rise bottom that covers the belly area.

If you want more technical options, you can go with tummy-control fabrics. Besides holding in the belly, they might also hold in/lift the bottom. Make sure to go with one-piece swimsuits with designs and colours that draw attention away from your stomach.

Athletic Body

If you play sports or do gym workouts, then this likely describes your body type. Go with swimwear that defines the waist and adds body curves. Try a bikini that adds more curves to your figure and breaks up straight lines.
Whether you have an apple, pear, or muscular body, you can find the right shaping swimwear for hot and humid weather.

It’s all about figuring out your body shape then selecting a one-piece or two-piece swimsuit that compliments your figure.
